Janathon day 12: question - music or not?

Weekends tend to involve a lot of kid stuff, and this weekend we've also got friends coming over for a visit. So I thought I'd get my Janathon commitment out of the way early, with a short-ish and quick run before breakfast, using one of my local routes around Amersham. I didn't want to overdo it, since I'm planning a repeat performance of the Pednor Loop tomorrow, hopefully with one or two friends this time, which I am really looking forward to. I was happy with the result: 2 miles in 15:48 (but chilly hands, as it was sleeting and I didn't have gloves).

Today, for a change, I ran without music. This is extremely rare for me; I'm a music obsessive, and many of my waking hours are spent listening to some kind of music or other. Also, recently, I've been using an audio recording while running that coaches efficient running technique, which has also been useful. Today, though, I thought I would take on the full sensory experience of just running, taking in the sights and sounds, against the backdrop of my heavy breathing.

Do you run with music, or without? Why?

Anyway, today's stats:

Running: 2 miles

Time: 15:48
