Juneathon day 9: change of scene
fitness, food ·Well, that was fun! I just had a trip into Town to meet up with an old friend from university. We had been trying to organise such a gathering for absolutely ages, but I'm always hard to pin down because of everything going on with the kids, orchestra etc, and he works in TV so finds himself disappearing for months at a time for filming. However, today we were both around!
A rather last-minute suggestion to go for a run with him failed, as some warning is required to happen to have a running kit to hand! Instead we had dinner in Marylebone High St, with a few beers to wash it down. So, a fun outing that I hope to repeat soon.
On the Juneathon front, a run was out of the question, so I managed to get a substantial walk around the area of Baker Street and Regent's Park. There was rain, but not a lot, so basically I just motored around, enjoying the surprisingly nice scenery, especially given that I was in the heart of London. The birds there are obviously used to plenty of through traffic, so were completely un-phased by my efforts at taking photos of them, such as this heron...
Then, as the clock turned towards our planned meeting time, I headed back to Baker Street station, and we met under the gaze of none other than Shirlock Holmes himself, in brass form.
In the end, I managed to accrue over 7 miles of walking today (including a jaunt into town during the day), which I'm pretty happy with under the circumstances.
My friend is a keen climber, so perhaps our next meeting might involve walls and scaling things? That's something to look forward to!
