Juneathon day 10: run and yoga, not necessarily in that order
fitness ·This coming Sunday, some friends and I are participating in the Windsor Triathlon, in particular the Olympic distance relay. I'm down for the 10K run at the end, but my training hasn't been going especially well: it is in only 4 days, and I haven't actually run 10K in really quite some months! So today I wanted to do a run that would at least put my mind at rest that I could have a good shot at it, without being too troubled with injuries etc.
To this end, I ran a rather slow and meandering 5.6 mile lap around Amersham tonight, averaging a gentle 11:12/mi pace. I am very happy with it, though; that's close enough, and I had a bit left in the tank at the end. Also, thankfully, my slightly sore knee and hip didn't grouch excessively: result! So at least I feel I've got some decent chance of making it round without having to stop...
I also did an hour's yoga with Yoga By Ellie, which was delicious, delightful and delovely. This is one of the few things that can quiet my mind. Ideally the yoga would have come after the run, but actually it was first. This was a slight shame, as yoga classes usually end up with the wonderful pose called Savasana, aka Corpse Pose. Apparently this is the most important one; certainly, it's the one where you get completely and totally relaxed. I could do with a bit of that now, however Ellie's gone to bed and I'm not sure she'd welcome being woken at this hour!
So, anyway, that's today: busy, reasonable mileage and luscious yoga. What's not to like?
