Making changes
Planning, Change ·Yesterday’s blog post set me thinking about how I want things to be, as compared to how they are. There are some areas I want to work to improve, particularly:
- Running, now that my Achilles appears to have recovered
- Eating properly
- Getting enough sleep
- Practising my flute
- Developing knowledge to make me more effective at work
At the same time, I’d also like to scale back spending time on things I’m not really that interested in.
Some of these things need daily effort (like flute, sleep, eating) and others need to get coverage during each week to make progress (running, learning). I need to use my time better, and in a targeted way.
So everything needs to have its own time (to quote Ecclesiastes): taking a step back, this sounds a lot like Cal Newport’s time-block planning. Talking of which, I’ve hit my time limit for today, so time to get off my bum and actually do some of these things!
