Dear diary
Journal ·Today has been more of a “doing” than a “thinking” day. Probably too much so. For that reason, this is going to read a bit more like a journal than anything.
Work started fairly early, with an initial stint in a local coffee shop (Nena’s in Amersham - recommended) followed by a relocation to Spaces in Gerrards Cross (a great business lounge to work in!). I got my head down working on some front-end JavaScript stuff, which took me to the mid-afternoon. Then I found out I needed to shoot back to pick up a daughter for a dentist’s appointment. So after that brief interruption I went back to GX to continue working.
Here’s where the thinking would have come in handy. On getting my fix going, I discovered that it had already been resolved through some other ongoing work. It wasn’t entirely a waste of time as it forced me to dig in to some of the innards of the software we build, but it was a bit annoying nevertheless.
Once work was tied up, I went back home. After a quick cup of tea, it was back out for a mega-shop in Tesco, helped by my other daughter. Once that was unpacked, I then had to run some bits over to the first daughter, who was then out on a sleepover. By this stage it was already pretty late so I grabbed my computer and started typing…
Key lesson learned: before fixing something, check it needs fixing.
