Early start (janathon day 4)
Journal, Janathon, Flute, Energy ·The header image is not a photo of my gym. One obvious difference is that it looks empty, whereas mine was comparatively heaving when I got there this morning. I had actually intended to go to my early bootcamp this morning, but after a disturbed night’s sleep I thought better of that idea; instead I went for plan B.
Not that it’s a bad gym - quite the contrary. It is big and spacious, with a decent pool and a number of studios, plus a compact spa as well. There’s also a large atrium-like space when you go in, which is extremely popular with the local student population for studying after school. I’ve been known to work there myself, too (decent coffee, enough said). All told, I’d recommend it - the Chilterns Lifestyle Centre, if you’re interested.
Anyway, I decided to have a shot at pushing out my row to 2km and see how that went. I managed it in 8:05, which I was pretty happy with. Then I did a stint of weights (overhead press, squats and pull-ups). One day I’ll remember to take a photo of it, but I tend to be just bashing through my workout so forget.
Once I made it to work, I thought I’d push through a few admin tasks that had been on my list, starting with booking my flute in for a service. I was rather horrified that the first date available is in mid-February, and it can take up to two weeks. I suppose I ought to explore other options, as that’s both far away and rather long, given that my concert is in March.
Next I contacted my old energy provider to find out why they hadn’t processed my refund yet, only to discover that the change of provider had only succeeded for gas and hadn’t happened for electricity. This is actually really annoying: we’ve been making lots of effort to use electricity overnight when it was supposed to be cheaper, but this has been wasted effort as we’ve been on a flat rate the whole time. Grrr!
